First Baptist Church Youth

The First Baptist Church Youth Group typically meets from 6-7:30pm on Sunday in homes of our youth.  We have other weekend events, service times, retreats, and summer trips planned as well.  Please check out our Winter and Spring Schedule below for details.

Want to know more about us, what we’re like, and what we do and learn together?  The Youth Ministry and Spirituality Project model is a good place to start. It’s our framework for how we want to be shape ourselves as a community, seek God’s movement in our lives, and be in the world.  You can learn more at their web site.

We follow The Youth Ministry and Spirituality Project’s contemplative approach to youth ministry and employ prayer, discernment, spiritual direction, covenant community, spiritual practice and Sabbath-living as our chosen ways of re-sourcing ministries with youth and being together.

Last summer we spent a week here in town that we called
Madison Mission Madness.

Instead of going away to spend time in service, we stayed in our own community hoping to learn more about the Madison we don’t typically see, address the need that surrounds us, and stay rooted in our own city.  We learned a lot and had a blast!  The Madison Mission Madness 2007 page will lead you through a visual tour of our experience…

This summer we’re off for another new experience.  We’ll spend 3 days working in service to others and then go to Baptist Youth Camp in northern Indiana.  We’re excited to join other progressive Baptist and ecumenical youth groups for an experience where we can all be welcomed, affirmed, celebrated.  We’ll learn, journey, and play together for a week.  BYC, here we come!  Want to know more about the flavor of BYC and it’s sponsoring organization?  Check out the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists’ website.
